PREVIOUS FUNDRAISING EVENTS
Sponsored events
In October 2020, 25 teachers from Ruby's school, Charter North Dulwich, cycled from London to Brighton in Ruby's memory, raising over £15k and getting Ruby's fund off to a cracking start. Since then, various friends and family - and some total strangers - have undertaken sponsored events including running, cycling, wild swimming, daring skydives and abseils. Ruby's aunt did a wingwalk, one of her best friends shaved her hair off, and Ruby's mum & sister completed the Tube Challenge (going through all the London Underground stations in a single day).

Birthday fundraising
A couple of people have raised money for Ruby's fund through birthday fundraisers, asking people to donate to Ruby's fund instead of buying them presents. This includes a pupil at Rosemead who had never met Ruby but had heard lots about her and wanted to help support the fund. If this is something you're interested in doing, we'd be very happy to provide party favours/items for party bags such as packs of playing cards, badges, notebooks and stickers.

wagamama events
wagamama was Ruby's favourite restaurant, and they have been fabulous supporters of Ruby's fund. In March 2021, Steve Mangleshot, global executive chef at Wagamama hosted an online cook-along showing people how to cook Ruby's favourite dish - yasai katsu curry, with almost 300 people taking part (video here) and then in January 2023, he hosted 3 nights of in-person dinner parties where 30 people learned how to cook gyoza and raisukaree.

Postcards for Ruby
To mark what would have been Ruby's 21st birthday, we organised 'Postcards for Ruby' in October 2021, asking artists to donate a postcard sized piece of art for us to raffle off. Over 300 postcards were received, including from many of the artists who Ruby featured in her GCSE art sketchbooks as well as the illustrators of some of her favourite children's books (including Debi Gliori and Nick Sharratt). We also received postcards featuring Ruby's motto Live Kindly Live Loudly from several or Ruby's favourite celebrities, including Dames Emma Thompson, Julie Walters & Emma Thompson, Sir Mark Rylance and Tom Holland.

Auctions
We've run a couple of auctions, and plan to make this a regular fundraising activity. Items have included stays at holiday cottages in the UK and overseas, arts and crafts, jewellery, vouchers, workshops and items signed by celebrities. Our most recent auction included a guitar signed by Coldplay and inscribed with Ruby's motto. If you have any suggestions for items we could include in future auctions, we'd love to hear from you?
